INTRODUCTION

Cast off, sit back and get ready for the catch of the day. Nothing is quite as rewarding as spending some quiet time fishing. Africa Wild Safaris is proud to offer a range of distinctly African fishing locations. Just let us know what excites you hook, line and sinker and we will arrange a special fishing break for you.

DEEP SEA FISHING

We operate two exquisite fishing locations used regularly in South Africa but there are a large number of equally enchanting fishing spots throughout the country. Should you wish to know more about these please feel free to contact us.

For deep sea fishing trips we use St Lucia as a base. The area is semi-tropical with lovely weather and the setting offers great views of the pure beauty the North Coast of Kwazulu Natal. The most well known fish species that you will encounter on your St Lucia trip are: Pike, Dorado's, Sailfish, Tuna, Red Roman, King, Marlin, Slinger, Soldier, Rock Cod, Queen Mackerel, Cuda

Gansbaai in the Eastern Cape is another quiet fishing town that is popular amongst our keen fisherman. You can expect to find the following fish in Gansbaai: Red Roman; Red Stump; Hottentots; Kabeljou (similar to Cob); Gelbeck (also known as Cape Salmon - but tastes nothing like Salmon!); Yellow Tail (variety in the area are Small Yellow fin Tuna) and Snoek. Your hosts at Gansbaai also offer Crayfish catching trips in season – you will need to obtain a crayfish license for this, which is easily obtainable from our Post office.

TAXIDERMY

Never again let your fishing friends regale you with “it was this big” stories, our local taxidermists can make a trophy of the biggest fish you catch so that you can take it home for posterity. We recommend the use of George Nell & Son Taxidermist who will create a lasting memory of your most impressive catch.
